DMS/CVS Program Director

 

The Program Director manages faculty and other academic staff and ensures effective leadership of his or her department and students. In addition, the Program Director is responsible for all applicable accreditation commission standards or agency regulations as well as all programmatic outcomes. The Program Director is also required to implement, monitor, and uphold all applicable policies and procedures to ensure effective functioning of the department. Responsibilities

  • Set the example and be the role model for professionalism and conduct for program staff and students
  • Ensure academic quality of the instruction provided to the students
  • Participate in student, campus, and community activities as required
  • Actively participate in the local professional community to raise awareness of Concorde, enhance student opportunity, and build the professional network
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, orienting, and supervising faculty members for the department

Ensure faculty are providing active and engaging learning experiences to students within a respectful environment that is conducive to learning, and focused on student satisfaction and positive results

  • Participate in and document ongoing faculty and professional development activities including any Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that may be required for certification or licensure where required by law. This also includes ensuring these activities are occurring and documented for faculty
  • Adhere to Concorde policies and accreditor standards
  • Ensure the safety of the department meets legal and regulatory guidelines and standards of the program
  • Conduct and document regular department staff/faculty meetings
  • Ensure faculty files are maintained and complete as per the Academic Dean’s requirements
  • Assist with ongoing review and development of program curriculum
  • Ensure that all appropriate surveys are conducted timely and reviewed effectively
  • Provide regular performance feedback, including formal classroom observations, to all faculty as appropriate and be open to coaching from Academic Dean
  • Advise, coach and mentor students as appropriate and necessary
  • Provide support and supervision to ensure programmatic and institutional completion, licensure and placement outcomes are me
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements of programmatic and institutional accreditors including advisory committee meetings, scheduled and unannounced visits, annual reports, self-studies, and response
  • Review and ensure accurate and timely course, student, and faculty scheduling
  • Assist with and attend graduation as requested
  • Teach classes as and when necessary and as permitted by any programmatic accreditor
  • Assist with student orientations
  • Participate in the budgeting process and supervise procurement to ensure that program needs are met
  • Review and assist with implementation of the Satisfactory Academic Progress process, including grade audits and timely completion of student advising
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Degree – Minimum of an Associate degree in Medical Sonography-related discipline and a bachelor degree in any field
  • Credentials - Must be registered in at least one of the Sonography specialties for which they assume a primary teaching role:
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with specialty certifications in both Obstetrics and Gynecology (OIB/GYN) or Abdominal (AB)
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with Adult Echocardiography (AE) Specialty
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
    • Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS)
      Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
  • Experience – Equivalent of four years full-time professional experience as a general sonographer or vascular technologist
  • Must have course work in instructional methodologies, evaluation, and assessment
  • Must have proficiency in curriculum development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional methodologies, evaluation, and assessment preferred
