The Senior Buyer oversees procurement activities for multiple campuses, including strategic site procurements across all locations. This role manages purchasing for a wide range of spend categories, collaborating with stakeholders to implement cost-saving strategies while ensuring compliance with purchasing regulations. Responsibilities include sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, reviewing requisitions, issuing RFPs/RFQs, and serving as a liaison between internal departments and vendors. The Senior Buyer must exercise independent judgment, drive process improvements, and optimize supplier relationships to support operational efficiency.

Salary Range: 60K to 70K
Lead the Purchasing department in training, process review, and documentation to drive operational excellence.
Analyze and process purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
Resolve invoice discrepancies and address vendor-related purchasing issues.
Attend interdepartmental meetings to represent the Purchasing department.
Collaborate with IT and internal teams to enhance procurement systems and processes.
Communicate contract policies and procurement procedures to internal business teams.
Lead and implement process improvements between Purchasing and other departments.
Support the development of RFPs/RFQs, contract negotiation, and bid evaluation.
Proactively seek out cost-saving opportunities through strategic consolidation of purchases across diverse locations.
Negotiate contracts, secure bids, and evaluate vendor proposals for best pricing, quality, and delivery.
Determine method to process requisitions based on dollar amount, timeliness required, existing open contracts, and/or competitive bidding.
Manage supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with business goals and performance expectations.
Education / Experience
Skills & Abilities
Procurement Expertise: Comprehensive experience in all facets of purchasing, including sourcing, negotiation, contract management, and compliance standards.
Strategic & Analytical Skills: Proficient in strategy development, RFPs/RFQs analysis, and identifying/implementing continuous improvement opportunities within procurement systems.
Leadership & Project Management: Proven ability to oversee procurement processes, manage multiple projects efficiently, and ensure accuracy from initiation to completion.
Negotiation & Relationship Building: Skilled in negotiating favorable contract terms, securing optimal vendor agreements, and fostering supplier relationships to enhance service levels.
Independent Problem Solving: Capable of working autonomously with strong initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
