Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator

The Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for supporting the nursing department in the organization and management of the nursing skills laboratory and the planning and implementation of the simulation curriculum. The Simulation Lab Coordinator must function as administrator of the Nursing Skills Laboratory, faculty trainer and instructor for the simulation curriculum, skills instructor for tutoring and skills remediation, and assigned faculty to assess re-entry candidate skills. • Manage inventory and purchasing of all skills laboratory supplies used in the Practical Nursing curriculum
• Manage all skills laboratory equipment maintenance and repair
• Work with the Director of Nursing Education to maintain a plan for skills laboratory equipment acquisition
• Design, preparation, and execution of all simulation experiences in the Practical Nursing curriculum
• Ensure simulation curriculum congruence with term and course learning objectives
• Train faculty on the simulation curriculum and running all facets of simulation
• Remediate laboratory skills with students as needed
• Offer practice sessions for students’ laboratory skills
• Serve as Chair of the campus Simulation Committee and a member of the organization-wide skills laboratory and simulation committees
• Assume teaching assignments as needed
• Organize and present subject matter in a meaningful way to students
• Develop course material and evaluation tools as needed, with approval of the Director of Nursing Education or the Academic Dean
• Evaluate student progress
• Evaluate students on professionalism (appearance/dress code, attitude, cooperation)
• Maintain student records, grades, and attendance. Post on permanent record sheets daily
• Research and prepare all lecture materials in advance of classpresentation
• Notify students of make-up work due
• Tutor students during simulation including practice in the skills laboratory and simulation make-up sessions
• Keep informed of current standards related to instructional area
• Ensure the learning environment is maintained in a professional manner centered on student learning
• Attend outside workshops and seminars on improving instructional and professional skills when time and resources permit
• Supplement student material when needed
• Attend orientations, staff meetings, and faculty meetings as scheduled
• Assist with preparations for graduation ceremonies
• Attend graduation ceremonies
• Maintain laboratory and classrooms in a neat and orderly fashion
• Maintain a cheerful, enthusiastic, positive attitude
• Assist financial aid and administrative departments by providing information as needed
• Refer students to the Director of Nursing Education and/or Academic Dean if additional advising is necessary
• Refer students having excess of two (2) absences to the Director of Nursing Education or the Academic Dean
• Remain in laboratory or classroom for all assigned instructional times

  • Hold an active unencumbered RN license issued by the board.
  • A Bachelors degree in nursing required, Masters in Nursing preferred
  • A minimum of 3 year's experience as an RN
  • Documented competency in teaching through experience, educational preparation or continuing education

  • Hold a valid, active RN or LVN license issued by the board.
  • Must have 1 of the following:
    • Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited school
    • Valid teaching credential
    • Completed a minimum of 1 year of Full-Time teaching in a state accredited or approved RN or LVN Program
    • Meet the teaching requirements in CA for community college or state university - Bachelor’s Degree (RN); and 2 years of experience; OR Associate Degree (LVN): and 6 years of experience
  • A minimum 3 year’s full time nursing experience (ACSCC)

  • Current, unencumbered RN license to practice professional nursing in the state of Colorado.
  • Bachelors degree in nursing from accredited nursing school required, Masters in nursing preferred
  • CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR: Must have 1 year of documented experience in area of instruction
  • THEORY INSTRUCTOR: Must have 2 year's professional nursing experience
  • Documented knowledge and skills related to teaching of adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Minimum three years clinical practice experience (ACSCC)

  • Current license as a registered nurse in Florida (which may include practice under the terms of Rule 64B9-3.009, F. A. C.)

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as an RN
  • Must meet all regulatory and corporate qualifications.
  • Must meet approval of regulatory nursing board in order to hold position.

  • Associates degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school required, Bachelors degree in nursing strongly preferred
    • Bachelors degree in nursing required to teach all theory and clinical course programs
    • Associates degree can teach Clinical Term 1 Courses Only.
  • Must have a current, unencumbered VN or RN License to practice nursing in the state
    • Must have active RN license to teach all courses in program

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years related practical work experience in the occupational field associated with training provided

    • If the instructor has not been actively employed in nursing in the past 3 years, the instructor's advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education and nursing administration and prior relevant nursing employment may be taken into consideration in evaluating qualifications for the position.

  • Practical nursing faculty and staff are academically and experientially qualified. The number of qualified faculty and staff provides for the achievement of student learning and program outcomes.
