Regulatory Operations Specialist

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist verifies the compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies. This role will monitor regulatory changes, develop and implement compliance processes, and coordinate with departments for adherence to federal, state, and accreditation requirements.

Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables

• Assist in the creation, review, and implementation of institutional policies and procedures to for compliance with applicable regulations and standards
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards relevant to higher education
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify compliance with Title IV, ADA, FERPA, Clery Act, state licensure requirements, and other relevant regulations
  • Collaborate with the Title IX office for compliance with regulations related to discrimination and harassment
  • Monitor and track complaints for resolution alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards
• Verify compliance with regulations, data protection laws, such as FERPA, and assist with reviewing policies and processes regarding students, student records and information security
  • Develop and deliver training programs for faculty, staff, and administrators on compliance-related topics, including regulatory updates and best practices
  • Review all program revision applications and new program applications prior to submission to maintain quality and adherence standards and regulatory agencies
  • Review school websites and publications to maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable regulations
• Prepare and submit required regulatory reports, such as those for accreditation, state education departments, and federal agencies
  • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, including audits, reports, policies, and training documentation
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, accreditation bodies, and other oversight organizations
• Support accreditation processes by ensuring documentation aligns with regulatory and institutional standards
  • Work closely with academic and administrative departments to address compliance-related concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Manage compliance with state authorization requirements for online education and professional licensure programs
• Identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies
• Other duties as assigned.

Licenses / Certifications

• Certification in compliance or regulatory affairs (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP))(preferred)

Education / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field (required) Master’s degree (preferred)
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in regulatory compliance required in Higher Education (preferred)
• Experience working with higher education regulations, including Title IV, ADA, FERPA, Clery Act, and state authorization requirements (required)
• Knowledge of accreditation processes and standards (e.g., regional accrediting bodies such as HLC, SACSCOC, WASC)

Skills

• Proficiency with student compliance management systems and in Microsoft Office Suite
• Intermediate skills in online education and state authorization compliance
• Knowledge of student information systems and data management tools

• Ability to stay current on compliance and regulations within Higher Education and Healthcare

Work Environment

• Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
